The tubes

Riley got her tubes put in Friday morning. It required us to be at the hospital at 5:30am, which was good because she wasn't allowed to eat or drink after midnight, but bad because me no likey getting up at 4am. :)

She got to wear her own jammies for the surgery and got to have her blankie with her too, so it made for a better experience. I almost cried when they took her away, but managed to hold it in somehow.

She was gone for all of about 15 minutes. The doctor came out 5 minutes after they took her, and my first thought was "oh no, what's wrong?". Turns out he was coming out to tell us how great she did; her left ear had gotten infected again, and the right one had a lot of fluid on it, but they fixed it all. The nurses came and got us a few minutes later, and when we got back there she was just waking up and screaming her head off. No more crying after a little cuddling from Mommy and some water. We came home and celebrated with breakfast tacos, she napped for 3 hours, then we headed downtown to pick up our packets for the Livestrong Challenge. You wouldn't even have known that she'd had surgery that morning! We didn't think she could be a happier baby, but we were wrong. She was running and laughing and babbling even more than usual.

Here are our pics chronicling RK's first medical procedure (taken with Jeff's cell phone, thus the quality):
