Today's Random Fact: People that say 'like' and 'ya know' incessantly in conversation drive me nuts.
This particularly applies to the business setting (though it is annoying anywhere). How can anyone speak like that and expect to be taken seriously? It's hard enough being a woman in the workplace (cue the violins), but do you really think sounding like a Valley Girl is going to help the cause? Furthermore, please think about this: when you send an email or write a presentation, is there a 'like' or 'ya know' to be found? NO! Why? Because it's not appropriate English, that's why.
