14 Months Old!

The big girl just turned 14 months old!

  • She is trying to talk more and more. She now says a version of 'cat'.
  • She knows who the cats are, because if you ask where they are, she points or goes looking for them.
  • She wants to play with Oscar's toys, but we're teaching her about her toys and 'dog's toys'. So now, she'll pick them up, but give them to Oscar. He gets a little nervous that she'll steal them, but he lets her take them anyway.
  • Just this morning, realized she can almost get her leg up on the couch. I guess that means she'll be scaling the furniture in no time. Sweet.
  • She's obsessed with lights and clocks. Always pointing at them, so we spend lots of time everyday saying 'clock' and 'light'. I really hope she doesn't say 'clock' until she can say it all at once. I'm really worried what a baby version of that would sound like. :)
  • She got another tooth! We're up to 5 now. Not that she chews. She seriously swallows most of her food whole. I'm sure that's awesome for her digestion.
  • She's graduated from a high chair to a booster seat and placemat. I'm guessing in the next month we'll need to start working on how to use a spoon on her own. Oscar will love the floor scraps that come from that experiment.
  • We're experiencing a little bit of separation anxiety and clinginess lately. It got better once the tooth came through, but she's still not so sure about me leaving her at school in the morning.
  • We've been Skype-ing with the grandparents, and she gets excited when she sees them on the screen. She looks at their pictures every night and every morning, so she's fully aware of her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
  • She's decided that laughing at us when we try to discipline her is funny. We beg to differ. However, I take solace in the fact that she does it to her teacher too, so it's not just us.
Here's a recent pic of Miss RK! Changing everyday, but still very little hair. Kind of mullet-y in the back. :)
