Lamaze Class

Jeff and I started our Lamaze class last night. One 2.5 hour class down, 2 to go!

Overall, we did learn a few things. But we also were cracking up at certain parts, and in their videos, I quickly eliminated some of the 'comfort techniques' they suggested. For instance, if Jeff tries to get in my face and 'take control' as the video suggested, I'll probably deck him. Another example: they suggested that he do this creepy rubbing of my arms that just looks and feels weird. So I told him to back off there too, much to his relief.

When we got there, we were definitely the oldest people in the class. Luckily a few other couples showed up in our age range so we weren't horribly old by comparison.

Then this woman and her husband walked in, and she literally had a miniskirt and hooker heels on. Then, she went to change into the 'comfortable' clothes the class material recommended, which consisted of putting on skin tight denim capris, wearing the same hooker heels, but because the capris were also low-rise, her t-shirt didn't even cover her belly. Please note: she's due mid-July, so her belly is quite large right now.

Finally, another person in the class apparently has pre-existing back problems. So when we were practicing some of the breathing techniques and other massage type things, she kept moaning like she was in labor. The instructor kept asking if she was ok, and she said yes, but from the noises she was making you'd think she was dying or in the final stages of labor. I'm thinking a c-section might be her best bet.......

We'll see how next week goes; I know it's valuable for us to go since it's the first baby, but some of it is so hokey that we can't contain our giggles or snide comments. :)
