Back from Boston!

We were in Boston this weekend for our first baby shower (Hezzy did give me my 'mini-shower' in March, but this was the first big one). After flying again, I have determined that is my last flight until this baby comes, because it's brutal!
We got to Boston Thursday night; Jack was on a business trip through Friday, so Julie picked us up and we had dinner in South Boston at Playwright's. It's a good neighborhood restaurant, but they had some radio promotion going on, and it was so loud in there!

Friday, we got up and went for a walk around Castle Island with Kristin and her mom Linda. The weather was great, and unlike when we were there in April, I didn't have to stop twice during the walk, so that was exciting. :) We got back to Julie's and Jill arrived from Orlando, so Julie picked her up and we spent the afternoon at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Only a few of the exhibits were open, but the tickets are good through June, so Julie will be using them for a nice afternoon with her girlfriends. We had lunch at the Water Cafe by Wolfgang Puck onsite, which was very good.
Jack returned Friday afternoon, and that night we went to Persephone for dinner. It's an interesting place that has a clothing boutique at the front of the restaurant, and at night, they close up the clothing displays to reveal a larger bar/lounge area where you can play Wii and Guitar Hero; we were there when the Celtics were playing though, so all TVs were focused on that. All of the food looked great that everyone ordered, and the desserts were fantastic.

It rained all Friday night, and when we got up on Saturday, we were getting ready for the shower. Julie planned a fantastic shower at the Granite Links Golf Club at Quarry Hills just outside of Boston. While we had the shower, Jeff, Jack, our friend Joe and Jack's friend Paul took advantage of the golf course for the afternoon. Below are a couple of pics. Please note that we added a pic of one of the favorite gifts from the shower: a Juicy Couture track suit, a gift from our neice Sloane. Leave it up to her to be sure that Riley is as fashionable as can be from day 1! :)

Saturday night, Kristin's mom cooked us one of her famous Italian feasts that Jeff and I have missed dearly since Kristin moved out of Austin! No matter how full you are when you go, you just keep on eating everything she cooks. We had Italian meats and cheeses for appetizers, salad, briciole (Kristin - I had to google this to even be able to spell it!), meatballs, some pasta I can't remember the name of (maybe gevelli?), and ricotta cheese pie with chocolate chips. Yum!!!

Sunday we got up and were lazy until lunchtime, then we all got ready and headed to Faneuil Hall for lunch at Quincy Market. I had a lobster roll, which I love! We then walked around and did some window shopping and fought off the crowds. (It was nice out, and it was also graduation weekend for many of the colleges in Boston, so there were people everywhere!) Jill left later that afternoon, and Jack, Julie and Jeff and I met our friends Joe and Jessie at Amrhein's for a casual dinner.

Monday morning our flight was at 8am, and as usual, the Jet Blue terminal was a mess. And much to my dismay, they have started flying a larger plane between Boston and Austin, so it's now a 3 and 3 instead of a 2 and 2. Naturally, I got stuck next to some freak show with his giant Bose headphones that insisted on hogging the armrest and taking off his nasty sneakers and putting his sweaty gross feet on my side of the seat. No matter how many times I purposely elbowed him, he didn't get the hint. Fun times. It was a looooong 4 hours. :)

But, we're home now and back to work. Luckily this week was a 4 day week and so is next week, so I can't complain too much!
