Mad Cow Disease - or Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

The Riley Cat has contracted Hand Foot and Mouth Disease from school. I had never heard of such a thing before having a child, but apparently it's very common. Just a weird virus that is supposed to cause fever (she never had one) and results in blisters and then a rash. 5 of the kids in her class were out with it this week.

She was super cranky last week and we thought it was teething, since one of her top teeth was poking through. We took her to the doctor when she was still acting weird, and the doctor just proclaimed that she had a sore throat, no biggie. Now looking back, we think she probably had blisters in her throat, thus the extreme crankiness. Poor thing. :(

To hear the school talk about it, you'd think it was the plague. To me, much ado about nothing. It's not like it's chickenpox or something.

Here's a pic of Riley Kate and her BFF Oscar at home during her sick day:

Charles here....if you and Jeff have not already, go see "The Hangover"....seriously, I have not laughed that hard and loud in at least 10 years. Do it, you'll thank me, and if you already have, you know what I'm talkin' 'bout, Willis!
