We are edu-ma-cated!

While we were Lamaze class dropouts, Jeff and I committed to and attended a breastfeeding class and an infant CPR class this weekend!

The breastfeeding class was the most enlightening to me, and it was great to have Jeff there so when I'm exhausted and irrational (I know, I know, you're thinking "what?! Katie be irrtational? NEVER!"; well, it does happen folks - hahahahaha), he can remember things from class and pull me back to reality. After taking this class, we feel confident we can do this and I'll make it to the goal of 6 months. According to the teacher, my biggest obstacles will be Jeff's stupid blackberry in the hospital (love you honey!) and the nursing staff (though she did mention they have the best of intentions).

Infant CPR class was informative, but the group of people in there were odd. The instructor was some Texas good ol' boy, so he was entertaining, but there were some really dim bulbs in there. I never thought Infant CPR class would be that difficult for some, but I guess it is!

Now that we're done with our classes, we're almost ready for her to come! I'll post some pictures of the nursery later, we're finally done with our art projects. We're just waiting on the crib. Should be here July 26, so hopefully it makes it here before she does!

EDIT: Christa asked a good question. How does Jeff's blackberry interfere with me breastfeeding? Well, the instructor said that blackberries, laptops, etc. are distracting and will make us miss feeding cues from the baby and cause us to delay the feeding schedule, etc., and that can have a lasting impact on breastfeeding in general. So she said to limit the use of that stuff, particularly in the hospital so we can get a good feeding schedule established!
