I always get a little homesick around the summer holidays, because everyone goes to my Uncle Dean's campground for a barbecue. This homesickness wasn't helped by the issues I encountered this weekend.
On the heels of a doctor visit for a blood pressure scare (luckily it turned out to be a fluke; it's back to normal now), I started out the holiday weekend with a nasty fall. We were going to check out a new location for Oscar's day care, and I didn't see a step past my gigantic belly. So down I went, and luckily, my left knee took the brunt, not my belly. Poor Jeff, he had no idea what was going on! But now I have this horrible wound on my knee that hurts like hell and has also caused some swelling in my left ankle. Just what I need when I'm carrying around all this extra weight....a bum leg.
So Friday, I want to say we basically sat around all day, but for some reason that doesn't seem accurate with Jeff "Ants in his Pants" Manning, so I'm sure we did something of value. We did go to dinner that night with our friends Erik and Jason and their friends/families that were visiting. We went to the Oasis and got to see lots of fireworks displays from all the different towns and marinas on the lake. Later that night....I got sick from what I'm guessing was food poisoning. Sweet.
Saturday, I literally stayed in bed until 6pm. My knee hurt, I couldn't eat much without having horrible stomach pains, so Jeff recommended I take it easy after the rough couple days I'd had, and kept himself busy doing chores and errands while Oscar and I napped and watched TV. We did end up putting together the stroller, finished adding all the accessories to the pack and play, tested the baby monitor and finished hanging the curtains in the nursery that evening. So all was not lost!
Sunday, more laziness, but Jeff managed to go play tennis with Erik, and I ran some errands and started on another project for the nursery.
Slowly but surely we're making progress and I'm sure I'll be healed up before long. However, I am much more careful now to watch where I'm going. I really can't risk anymore injuries!
