Ugh. High Maintenance Pets!

So not only did we have the Oscar hip drama, then his kidney drama, then his food allergy drama, the cats had to get in on the action. Today is their 9th birthday (don't worry people, since they're indoor cats, they'll live FOREVER and be around at least another 9 years I'm guessing). Well, in honor of their 9th birthday, in addition to their vet-monitored weight loss program, we get to add stool softeners and another type of prescription food to the mix.

To give you an idea of how we got here, it's all about Wally. Not only does he not like to bathe (yes, odd for a cat since that's their claim to fame), but he also doesn't like to drink standing water, so we got them a circulating water fountain. We thought this worked until a few weeks ago when we had to take Wally to the doctor because he was acting strangely. One x-ray later, we found out that he was literally full of poo. :) So then it was off to get an enema (thank goodness the vet did this for us) which provided him relief.

We thought he was fine, but he had another incident a couple of days ago. So now we get to give him some tuna flavored goop twice a week to help and mix soft food in with his dry food to help with moisture and give him more fiber.

Maybe we're suckers for pampering our pets so much.....or maybe we need a nanny for the pets instead of the baby? :)
