4th of July

I'm a huge slacker with the blog these days. Not sure what my issue is!

We didn't do much over the 4th, but we had fun nonetheless. Riley Kate is at such a fun age, she keeps us entertained just watching her play (and by play, we mean endlessly move around the house doing nothing in particular; quite honestly, it looks exhausting). We should have gone to the pool, but unless we're there between 9:30am - 10am, it's too hot for her (and me), so it's hard to get that in with breakfast and all that. Maybe we'll try again this weekend.

Updates on RK:

• We think she knows how to say hi and dog (except without the g). Too many times she's done it in the right context for it to be coincidence at this point.
• She loves to pet the cats, but really, Guinness is the only taker. Wally is a biter, and he only likes to be pet on his head. So, a soon to be toddler and Wally don't always mix so well.
• She's starting to stand, which is very exciting, and even took a few steps the other day when practicing standing! I can't decide if her walking before vacation in 10 days is such a good thing, but can't fight it I guess.
• She knows the sign for 'eat' and 'more'. We can't quite figure out 'all done' (totally a me and Jeff issue; we're not that bright), so she ends up clapping. Whatever, it works. And if we miss the clapping, there's the frantic bouncing back and forth to rock her high chair to get her message across.
  
• She now has 4 teeth! The second top front tooth finally came through after torturing her (and us) for 2 weeks. I have a sneaking suspicion more are making their way through, but we'll see. Oh, and she BIT ME. Yep, on my leg of all places. Not in anger, but hopefully she realizes I'm not a teething toy after the yelp I let out. I'm sure it won't be the last time.
  
• She inhales food. Jeff was feeding her a gardenburger the other day and he couldn't keep up with her. But we'd check her mouth, and she wasn't stockpiling it, so she is probably going to be one of those speed eater freaks on ESPN. If it pays for her college, guess there's nothing wrong with that.

The other big activity was looking at houses! Jeff and I are nuts and want to try to sell our house in this crap market and move to a 'cooler' area of town. Cooler as in hip, not cooler as in temps. However, if Austin ever did develop a neighborhood under a bubble with a/c everywhere, I'm so in. We'll see what happens (about our house, not the aforementioned Jetsons style neighborhood). We're in no rush, so our realtor is coming over tomorrow to discuss. We might try and see what happens and if we don't get any bites, we'll wait until Spring.
