Back to the real world

Well, my maternity leave was officially over on October 16. I'm happy to go back to work, but I did get used to doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted (Well, sort of. I did have a newborn that had opinions about that.). Work didn't even give me a little time to ease back in, it's full steam ahead already. Kind of difficult, but I'll be back in the swing of things soon, I'm sure.

Miss Riley started daycare too, so she's had some changes. Luckily the daycare is just down the street from our house, so I drop her off a little before 8 and pick up a little after 4 everyday.

And I admit it. I cried. I dropped her off on Wednesday for a few trial hours and thought I was fine until I got in the car and called Jeff and totally lost it. Then as I drove to run some errands I kept tearing up. So then I decided to break my diet and stop and get some turkey and swiss kolaches (if you don't know what a kolache is - and I didn't before I moved to Texas - click here) to make me feel better. :) I ended up getting a pedicure and manicure, which I hadn't had in forever, and went to pick Riley up. She didn't even know I was gone, she slept the whole time, except for when they fed her! Thursday and Friday were much easier, no tears those days. Whew!

Her teachers Natalie and Brooke are very nice and there are only 6 babies in the class. 2 are closer to Riley's age, but a couple are almost walking and will then move up to the next class. The advantage to our neighborhood is that there are a lot of stay at home moms, so the baby classes aren't full. Others I know are not as lucky in their neighborhoods, and actually have to be on wait lists, etc. No fun!

So fingers crossed that Riley and I both adjust to our new lives. It's hard being without my little wingman every day, but that just makes the evenings and weekends more special!
