I have to say, though, UT's alma mater, "The Eyes of Texas are Upon You" is odd. It's set to the tune of "I've Been Working on the Railroad" (Jeff; I confirmed that this is in fact the case; for proof, please visit the following Wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eyes_of_Texas). Not only is it lame that it's set to that tune, but the lyrics are kind of freaky and stalker-ish:
- The eyes of Texas are upon you,
- All the live long day.
- The eyes of Texas are upon you,
- You cannot get away.
- Do not think you can escape them,
- At night, or early in the morn'.
- The eyes of Texas are upon you,
- 'Till Gabriel blows his horn!
Clearly, nothing compares to a little Hang on Sloopy with an O-H-I-O thrown in, but their "Texas Fight" cheer is stupid too. They take about 10 years to spell out Texas, then they do some weird singing run thing while saying Texas, then give a half-hearted "fight". Doesn't seem like it would pump anyone up to me, but they won, so maybe they know something I don't!
